Big Stone City School Awarded Grant
The 2016 South Dakota Legislature made available $1 million in funds to be used for the Classroom Innovation Grant. The purpose of this grant program is to provide funding for developing teacher training and classroom access to innovative technology. 48 schools applied and 18 were selected. Big Stone City School was awarded $50,000 to be used over the next two school years. These funds will be used to increase the engineering component of our K-8 curriculum though training and purchasing of new materials such as LEGO robotics kits, Make-Makey kits, MacBooks, and I-pads. In addition, in order to be find success in todays ever changing technological world it is important for our students to be engaged in learning through both traditional and digital methods. Teachers will receive training on various digital platforms that will be used to the engage students in creating, communicating, and managing in a digital setting.
We are excited for this opportunity to learn and grow for both our students and staff.
